This weekend I went to the park with Lex. We took a picnic lunch and sat by the lake feeding the ducks and geese. We then went to the playground and Lex managed to swing himself on the swings for the first time. We probably stayed too late because it was dark before we got home.
We were nearly back when disaster struck.
We had just pushed our bikes up a hill and were about to get back on them to finish riding home when Lex tripped. As his bike fell the handlebars twisted and he hit his eye right on the end of them. Fortunately he didn’t seriously injure himself; he has a small cut on his eyelid as well as a large bruise around his right eye.
He was obviously in a lot of pain but was very brave. After a short cry and a cuddle I put him down and he walked home while I pushed both bikes. When we got home he sat very still and let Charlotte clean the wound with warm water. We are both very proud of our little boy.
Less than a week until his seventh birthday now.
So I'm stood on the platform at West Hampstead overground station this morning and what should chuff along the track but a steam locomotive... Not the first time its happened. I had my phone in my hand already, so switched it into camera mode and waited for the train to get into the station.
Enjoy...

The challenge is on. Which of the above is the better mousetrap? So far the score is one all.
The Milo tin with the lid held up with a matchstick and a bit of bait rice in the bottom has been more effective. The mouse was let out at West Hampstead station on my way to work hopefully to live a productive life scouring the rubbish on the railway sidings of London (although likely to end up as a local cat's breakfast). The one that Fox caught was dropped in the garden and is probably relaxing in the shed with an acorn cup of nettle tea frightening the grand-kids with a monster story.
There are loads of sites with home built trap ideas. See some of the following: soda bottle trap, toilet-roll tube trap and a couple more.
